Vygieskraal Stadium hosts sports festival for community youths

​Participants enjoyed joining in recreational activities including indigenous games like ‘kennetjie’, skipping, hockey, cricket and a three-legged race. Various City departments also set up information stands including City Health, Libraries and Emergency Services. The Lions Club was also in attendance.

Alderman George March, the chairperson of Subcouncil 17, thanked all of the City departments, especially Recreation and Parks, for their contribution to make the sports festival a success. He also thanked local ward councillors Magedien Davids (Ward 48), Rashid Abrahams (Ward 49) and Mark Kleinschmidt (Ward 60) for their role in facilitating their community’s participation in the event. Ald March said that the sports festival provided an excellent opportunity for learners to discover the value of community recreational activities.
