In line with the City’s commitment to transparency and inclusiveness, all interested parties are encouraged to engage with the USDG Framework for 2020/21 which has been made available on its website.
The goal of the USDG is the creation of sustainable and integrated human settlements that enable improved quality of household life.
Its purpose is to supplement the capital revenues of metropolitan municipalities to implement infrastructure projects that promote equitable, integrated, productive, inclusive and sustainable urban development, and to provide funding to facilitate a programmatic, inclusive and municipality-wide approach to upgrading informal settlements.
This funding is used for, among others, increasing the number of basic interim services, access to public and social-economic activities, increasing the number of serviced sites, providing individual connections and increasing the land provision for informal settlement upgrading, subsidised housing or mixed-use developments.
