The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises the public in Goodwood of upcoming roadworks along various roads in the area
The following roads need to be resurfaced with a new layer of asphalt (damaged stormwater kerbs and channels along these roads will also be repaired and realigned):
- Zandvliet Close
- Vergenoegd Close
- Cambridge Street
- Botha Street
- Tygerberg Street
- De Wet Street
- Van Riebeeck Street
- Hofmeyer Street
- Smartt Road
- Marshall Road
- Goulbourn Street
- Gregory Road
- Van der Stel Street
- Goodwood Street
- Surrey Street
- Townsend Street
- Milton Road
- Nassau Street
- De Reyger Road
- Haarlem Street
- Spencer Street
'The scope of the works to be done in Goodwood includes the milling and removal of the existing road surface and resurfacing it with a new asphalt surface, including selected parking embayments. All road markings removed during the process will also be reinstated with retro-reflective road markings. I thank residents for their patience and look forward to the new fresh looking roads that will improve the overall riding quality in the area as well as the general road safety conditions in Goodwood,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas
Congestion is expected therefore the City recommends that road users be cautious while work is under way by looking out for uneven road surfaces, being mindful of the construction workers and factoring in a longer travel time or considering alternative routes.
Resurfacing maintenance on existing roads forms part of the City of Cape Town road maintenance system.
