Resurfacing of Belvedere Road in Claremont
2 May 2023
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate wants to advise road users and businesses of roadworks along Belvedere Road between Avenue De Mist and Imam Haron Road in Claremont.
The scope of the work entails:
- Installation and re-alignment of stormwater channels
- Removing the existing asphalt surfacing and replacing the old surface with hot-mix asphalt
- Reinstating the road marking and ancillary works
The resurfacing work will be done at night, outside of normal working hours, to limit the impact on road users. All lanes will reopen to traffic by 05:30 on affected weekdays, unless something unforeseen occurs.
Traffic travelling in both directions of Belvedere Road will be affected.
'I want to thank you for your cooperation and patience while this work is under way. I do advise motorists to please consider using alternative routes, as traffic travelling in both directions of Belvedere Road will be affected. The resurfacing of this section of Belvedere Road is a long-term investment in prolonging the lifespan of this important road. All road users, in particular local businesses and residents, will benefit from the maintenance,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
