Repairs to the Steenbras Bulk Water Pipeline at Croydon to commence tonight
15 July 2020
City to repair the bulk water main from SteenbrasAt this stage, the repairs are scheduled to commence tonight, on Wednesday, 15 July 2020 at 22:00 and will continue well into Thursday, 16 July 2020.
The repairs are taking much longer than usual as additional planning was required to limit areas impacted as well as to allow the repair to be undertaken in a safe manner.
Although the City has taken substantial precautionary measures to minimise the impact on residents in parts of Eerste River, De Wijnlanden, Faure, Croydon and Macassar, they may experience lower than usual water pressure and possibly no water supply in higher-lying areas. Water trucks will be made available in these areas to provide residents with water for domestic use, if needed.
The department is making every effort to attend to and complete the repairs in the shortest and safest time possible and are continuing to monitor the water supply in the areas. Residents are however requested to minimise their water consumption during the period of the repairs to reduce the strain on the water supply to these areas.
The City apologises for any inconvenience caused, however, it is imperative that the water supply infrastructure is maintained effectively to ensure a continued, reliable supply of drinking water to residents.
Furthermore, residents are reminded that they can submit service requests to the City via the following channels:
• Phone: 0860103089 option 2
• SMS: 31373
• Email: water@capetown.gov.za
