Mayor Plato takes clean-up campaign to Lwandle and Khayelitsha

10 May 2019

‘Today 10 May 2019 is the fifth stop on my official campaign against grime, which is aimed at educating members of the public about keeping our communities clean and reporting illegal dumping to enhance the work that is done by the City’s Solid Waste Department. Members of staff from this department do their best to keep areas clean with regular refuse removal and other cleansing services but residents must be responsible for not littering.

‘The cleanliness of neighbourhood public spaces means that children have a space to play and enjoy without their health being harmed. The scourge of illegal dumping and littering must be stopped. Illegal dumping is also against the law. Vehicles that are used in illegal dumping may be confiscated and a release fee of nearly R16 000 will be charged, over-and-above the fines that are issued for dumping. Please act and repot illegal dumping,’ said the City’s Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato.

Help the City to create cleaner and safer communities. The City calls on our residents to come out and support the campaign to #KeepCapeTownClean!
