Maintenance of Selene Way and Watergate Boulevard in Mitchells Plain

We urge those who will be making use of these roads to please exercise patience during this time and pay attention to the road signs
On Selene Way, work will be undertaken between Victory Drive and Rose Petal Road.
On Watergate Boulevard, the work will be done between AZ Berman Drive and the entrance to Brights Hardware.
The details of the roadworks are as follows:
Selene Way (Harmony Park):
- Clearing of vegetation along the road and adjacent fence to expose edgings.
- Remove existing/excess surfacing material from footway in Selene Way to allow for new asphalt surfacing.
- Remove damaged edgings and replace with new edgings.
Watergate Boulevard (Lentegeur):
- Remove existing concrete block paving and existing sand bedding material.
- Compact existing subbase material where required.
- Apply prime coat and/or tack coat.
- Apply new asphalt surfacing.
Some lanes will be closed, but traffic accommodation signs will be put in place, to accommodate traffic by means of a STOP-GO system during construction work.

Our aim with undertaking road maintenance work is to extend the roads' lifetime, improve the road safety conditions, your ride quality and decrease vehicle user costs,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
