'I'm calling on all of Cape Town's bright young minds and innovators to take part in the very first Mayor's Science and Innovation Fair. Grade 8 –11 learners are encouraged to enter by the final deadline of Monday, 2 October 2023.

'This is a platform for young Capetonians to  present innovative projects addressing real-world challenges. As part of Cape Town's ambition to be the home address for innovation and tech in Africa, we hope to inspire the city's youth to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills,' said Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.

In addition to the project showcase on 14 October, the event will culminate in an Award Ceremony where the Mayor will recognise the winners of the inaugural fair.

Prizes will extend beyond individual recognition with special prizes for the schools whose students excel.

More information, including competition rules, and resources, can be found on the official event website at www.capetown.gov.za/ScienceFair

The City encourages young innovators and interested schools to participate.
