Electrifying future Energy teams

25 April 2023

Today, 25 April 2023, the Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen, visited the City’s Energy Training Centre.

'The training centre is an essential part of the City's commitment to bringing effective and efficient service delivery to members of the public. It was important to me to visit the centre, see how it functions and to engage directly with those undergoing the training required to carry out this important work. The City attends to many thousands of service requests monthly and ensures that our teams on the ground are highly skilled,' said Councillor Van Reenen.

The centre is an accredited Skills Development Provider (SDP) for the Electrician Trade by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) of which the staff also administers a QCTO accredited Trade Test Centre.

'The training received at the centre enables our Energy teams, now and in the future, to attend to our residents' service requests in a helpful, timeous manner. Thank you to the staff members and those they are training. We are providing an important skillset to the next generation of artisans,' said Councillor Van Reenen.
