City to host Youth Career Expo at Civic Centre

13 May 2016

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Social Development and Early Childhood Development, Councillor Suzette Little, will host an integrated city-wide career expo for over 1 800 youth at the Cape Town Civic Centre on Saturday, 14 May 2016.

The expo comes on the back of a series of smaller events in the eight Social Development Department districts across the city over the past two months and will give young people from all districts access to services and support from over 35 institutions and organisations. The expo forms part of the City’s Transversal Youth Development Strategy which includes the provision of economic opportunities to address unemployment among young people.

The districts will be split in two sessions to ensure that all youth have optimal access to the exhibitions on the day. Youth from the Eastern, Western, Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain districts will be hosted in the morning session from 08:00 until 11:30. Youth from the Northern, Southern, Tygerberg and Klipfontein districts will have an opportunity in the afternoon session from 11:30 until 15:00.
