City’s MyEstate mobile office drives housing education in Gugulethu

30 April 2019

The City’s MyEstate mobile housing office started operating in December 2017 to make services more accessible to its tenants. It renders various tenancy management services such as: logging service requests on behalf of tenants; assisting residents with rent relief applications; Housing Database queries and new applications; completion of lease agreements; arrangements for rental accounts in arrears and also with general enquiries.

This office-on-wheels generally services tenants in areas where there is no conventional facility nearby.

‘Today I have been reminded of the value that the MyEstate mobile housing office holds for some of our more vulnerable communities as it brings service delivery right to their doorstep. Often they may not have the means to get to a municipal office for assistance.

‘This service plays a vital role for our tenants as this affords them the opportunity to discuss their housing-related queries, be it linked to their rental accounts, service requests or future housing opportunities. For this reason, we will continue to drive this service in other areas so that our tenants can be educated about housing matters and access services that are more accessible to them,’ said Councillor Booi.
