City’s mobile housing office drives services at full speed to communities

30 October 2019

Nearly 10 000 queries have been logged with the City’s MyEstate mobile housing office since it started operating in December 2017.

The mobile office renders various tenancy management services such as logging service requests on behalf of the tenants; assisting residents with rent relief applications; Housing Database queries and new applications; completing lease agreements; making arrangements for rental accounts in arrears as well as assisting general enquiries.

This office-on-wheels generally services tenants in areas where there is no conventional facility nearby.

‘The purpose of the MyEstate mobile office is to make services more accessible to the City’s tenants. In light of this, our mobile office will be visiting their areas, to bring service delivery right to their doorstep. Often tenants may not have the means to get to a municipal office for assistance.

‘This service plays a vital role for our tenants as this affords them the opportunity to discuss their housing-related queries, be it linked to their rental accounts, service requests, or future housing opportunities. Residents are therefore encouraged to check the schedule of when the mobile office will be in their areas.

‘We will continue to drive this service so that our tenants can be educated about housing matters and access services that are almost on their doorstep,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi.

Please see the schedule for November.
