City breaks ground at new Kanonkop Phase 2 project

​Today, 1 March 2023, the City and the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi officially turned the first sod at the Kanonkop Phase 2 project in Atlantis

​

The Atlantis Kanonkop project is one of the City's larger housing projects and will provide opportunities for more than 4 980 residents once all phases have been completed. Kanonkop consists of two phases, with Phase 1 nearing completion.

 

'The various projects in Atlantis are examples of the City's commitment to providing housing opportunities for residents across the city.

'This morning, we turned the first sod at Phase 2 and we are excited to see the work commencing. The project will develop 1 159 new single residential sites, upgrade over 600 existing residential sites and the installation of bulk and internal services will commence later this year.

 

'The City continues to do its best to provide affordable housing opportunities across the metro and we recognise the growing need in our communities. These opportunities are a stepping stone for residents and we look forward to completing the work and upgrades over the coming months,' said Councillor Booi.
