City advises of urgent water supply mains repairs affecting the Parklands and Gordon’s Bay areas

22 November 2023

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be doing urgent repairs to the water main supplying the Parklands and Dobson areas.

Parklands
The 400mm diameter water supply main to this area will be shut off to enable the maintenance team to do urgent repairs to a leaking connection and replace a faulty valve. Alternate water supply will be rerouted to the area albeit at low pressure.

Large part of Gordon's Bay (Dobson)
The water supply to a large part of Gordon's Bay bounded by Sir Lowry's Pass Road, Dennehoek Road, Disa Road and the Coastline will be shut off to enable the maintenance team to do repairs to the existing 250mm diameter water supply main in Lancaster Road safely.

The City acknowledges that the water supply disruptions in Gordon's Bay have been ongoing for some time and causing inconvenience to the affected community. However, this is due to circumstances out of our control resulting from poor data relating to water supply infrastructure maintenance and records of the previous municipality. We sincerely regret the impact, but are taking all reasonable measures to complete the work as safely and quickly as possible

Residents in these areas are kindly requested to store enough water in advance and also to keep their taps closed during this period to prevent water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.

A water tanker will be made available to provide water for domestic consumption where required

The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its customers.
