City advises of planned water supply disruption affecting the Diep River area

10 December 2021

Businesses and residents are advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period

This work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Department’s Pipe Replacement Programme, which schedules the replacement of pipelines across the City, in accordance with defined technical criteria. The process of switching over of the water supply to the new pipeline will result in the disruption of the supply to an area along the Main Road in Diep River from 09:00 until 17:00 on Monday, 13 December 2021.

The affected areas are south of Victoria Road, east of Burnham/Boundary Road and west of the railway line until Bergvliet/Roscommon Road, and south of Roscommon Road between Main Road and the railway line until Retreat train station.

Businesses and residents are advised to store water upfront  in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period.

Residents must also ensure that their taps are closed during this period to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

A tanker will be roaming in the affected area, to provide water where required.  Residents collecting water from the tanker must ensure that they comply with the Covid-19 regulations by wearing masks and observing social distancing.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it enhances its supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
