City advances with Aquifer Augmentation Project in Strandfontein area
22 November 2019
The construction work will involve the tie-in of the injection point of the pipeline of the aquifer augmentation scheme. This means that water is extracted from boreholes to a treatment plant where it will be treated to the drinking standard before injecting it into the existing bulk water network. Work will commence from 20:00 on Friday 22 November to 18:00 on Saturday 23 November 2019.
Residents may experience low water pressure and the water may be discoloured for a brief period due to the change in flow direction, but it will be safe to drink.
A tanker will provide water to the affected areas.
All taps should be kept closed during this period to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.
Care has been taken to minimise the impact on residents in the Strandfontein and Pelican Park areas.
Occasional traffic delays may occur for brief periods on Strandfontein Road, in the vicinity of Punt Road, due to the movement of construction vehicles but it will be managed.
The City apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused while conducting this work.
