Accreditation process
Our Integrated Waste Management By-law, 2009, gives us the power to regulate, control and monitor the generation, management and disposal of solid waste in Cape Town. This includes the cleaning, separation, storage, collection, processing, treatment, recycling, re-use, and disposal of waste as well as the prevention of littering and illegal dumping.
Accreditation is necessary for everyone providing a waste management service and certain waste generators in Cape Town. Apart from the need to be legally compliant, there are also other benefits, such as: work opportunities with government and helping to protect the environment by diverting waste from landfills.
How to register
Follow the steps below to register online:
Step 1: Register on the Solid Waste accreditation site.
Step 2: To avoid unnecessary delays, download and consult the checklist in the Accreditation User Guide to ensure you include all the necessary supporting documentation when you submit your application. Make sure that all documentation is current and accurate.
Along with the necessary supporting documents, you must submit an integrated waste management plan detailing how you will conduct your business.
Step 3: Submit all required documents on the Solid Waste accreditation site.
