Volunteer with the Disaster Risk Management Centre

The City is accepting volunteers to assist Disaster Risk Management across a variety of functions.

About

Volunteers will help the department carry out standby duties, including:

at fire stations,
in the first aid rooms,
during flooding situations, and
at large scale events that draw big crowds, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour and minstrel events.

Apply

As a volunteer, you must:

be a team player who is eager to serve his/her community in a voluntary capacity, which includes attending training sessions and meetings.
be 16 or older (parental consent is required for those falling into the 16 – 18 age bracket)
have a clean criminal record.

Volunteers will be located at various bases across the City (Atlantis, Athlone, Belhar, Fish Hoek, Khayelitsha, Macassar, Melkbosstrand, Milnerton, Melton Rose, Mitchells Plain, Ottery, Scottsdene, and Strand).
